The Art of Automotive Cinematography

I'm going to sound like a total n00b, but I'm just now discovering how awesome Vimeo is when it comes to finding super cool automotive short films. The ones I've been digging up are beautifully done with nothing more than simple imagery, a bit of music, and pure unadulterated car porn.  The following videos are a few of my favorites!

THE STARS COME OUT AT NIGHT - Aston Martin Rapide

We all have that one automaker that is most sacred to us, for me, it's Aston Martin.  I fell in love with these "timelessly handsome" cars as soon as I first laid eyes on them nearly eight years ago.  This short film of the Rapide speaks to the romantic appeal of these gorgeously elegant vehicles.  I'm in love all over again!

Beauty and The Beast

Just as there is a powerful bond between man and machine, there is also one between woman and machine.  If I could describe how it would feel to own my dream car (an Aston Martin DBS) visually, this would be it. A lady and her noble steed, but a bit more sinister than you'd think.

JDM style cars have their own unique coolness that is unlike any other modified vehicles, and the culture surrounding them is the same way.  I've you've been to a meet, you know what I mean. It's all about being laid back, having a good time and getting to know fellow members of community while admiring some sweet rides.  I'd say this GS is pretty damn sweet.

There's nothing quite like the devilish allure of a flamboyant Italian supercar.  Whether it's a prancing horse or a raging bull, the seduction is almost sinful, and may leave you willing to sell your soul for a tiny taste of what rages under the hood (or trunk, in the case of rear-mounted engines).

Last but certainly not least, a look at a car from a simpler time.  The cars of yesteryear have an attitude and personality that's still very much alive. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

In just a few short minutes, these videos take you to a special place,  one that is almost magical and inspiring.  That's what successful cinematography is all about.  I commend each and every one of the people involved in their creation, they're spectacular.
